Cheers to a Great Spring in Aiken

Cheers

The Aiken Spring Classic Masters and Aiken Spring Classic Finale horse shows that concluded on May 2 were not only a great start to the spring show season, but also a winning one!

Highlights included Alex Zulia and Athena earning the Low Adult Amateur Hunter championship both weeks for the circuit title. Alex and “The Warrior Princess” won three of the four over fences classes week 2, and Alex picked up excellent ribbons in the Adult Equitation and the reserve championship.

In addition, Lillian Cain and Dorian Grey duplicated that effort, earning both Large Green Pony Hunter championships for her own circuit championship. The second week the pair won three of the four over fences classes (they were second in the fourth) and topped the model class. They also placed second in the USHJA Pony Hunter Derby and in the Green Pony Hunter Classic for a tremendous week of consistency and great performances.

Urian and Stuart Rumsey added more accolades in the 3’3” Junior Hunters, earning great ribbons over fences, with Stuart placing in the top three in multiple medal classes, as well.

Theresa Sanders and Carrie King competed Week 1 in the Low Adult Hunters with C. Louis Z and Corton, respectively. Along with champions Alex and Athena, the White Horses Adult Amateurs picked up a majority of the top ribbons, with Carrie and Corton earning the reserve championship with a win over fences. Carrie also won a Low Adult Equitation class to top off her week.

Hadley Rodwell and Cloudy With A Chance picked up multiple second-placed ribbons in the Short Stirrup Hunters and other great ribbons in the equitation.

Special thanks to the Rick Cram and Progressive Show Jumping for an awesome two-week “show-cation” at Highfields in Aiken!
